We know what you’re thinking: The Rowenta VU5670 is a fan like every other fan out there. What’s so special about this? Don’t be tricked by its seemingly ordinary appearance and function – there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. In a nutshell, this stand fan is unlike any other you’ve probably come across in terms of airflow and convenience. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves; let’s take a look at why we feel your bedroom, office, or dorm would benefit from the VU5670.
Strong Airflow
The VU5670 comes with a massive 16-inch diameter head that move as much as 2,436 cubic feet of air every minute. We don’t need to be the one to tell you that that’s a huge amount of air, and this fan alone can suffice at significantly improving the quality of indoor airflow. Turn the oscillation feature on to give everyone in the room a touch of cooling air.
5 Speed Settings
This stand fan’s motor provides five different airflow speeds – low, medium, and high – to offer just the right amount of air at any room temperature. There’s also a Turbo Boost speed that goes up and beyond what you’d normally expect from a fan. When it’s time to shutdown for the night, you can switch to Silent Night mode for virtually soundless operation. Consider the soft hum emitting from the fan as white noise that gently coaxes you into a deep slumber.
User-Friendly Control Panel
This fan uses the traditional button-style control panel that we have grown accustomed to in stand fans, but Rowenta added a bit of modernity to the VU5670. Instead of deep-press buttons, the control panel is touch-sensitive. Switching between fan speeds is a seamless process that can be done with the slightest tap. On the control panel, you’ll find all of the different settings with easy-to-distinguish icons.
Remote Control for Added Convenience
If getting up to manually access the control panel isn’t your thing, then rejoice for the VU5670 also comes with a handy-dandy remote control. While standing/sitting several yards away, you can change to a different fan speed by simply pointing the remote at the fan. Anyone who’s ever used a fan can tell you how much more enjoyable it is controlling the appliance from a distance. Unfortunately, there’s no magnetic base on the fan where the remote can stick for quick storage.
Ultra-Quiet
Fans aren’t known for being particularly quiet, even on their lowest speed setting, but the VU5670 isn’t like most. This stand fan produces as little as 35 decibels of noise, making it literally whisper-quiet. The VU5670 is basically noiseless on Silent Night mode. If you’re a hot sleeper who’s also sensitive to loud noises at night, this would make for the perfect fan to have in the bedroom.
1, 2, 4, or 8-Hour Timer
Even though this stand fan is energy efficient, it never hurts to turn the fan off when it’s not needed. To make sure that the fan is off while you’re asleep and when you don’t need it, you have the option to set up a timer that will automatically shut the fan off when it expires. This inflexible timer can be set for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours.
Sleek Design
Even though looks aren’t everything, they can mean a whole lot, especially if you have a specific indoor décor that each and every piece of furniture and appliance needs to adhere to. The VU5670’s sleek, modern look can fit into any scheme without clashing horribly against the backdrop. There’s a tinge of blue on the fan blades, but even that just sweetens the overall steel-against-black appearance of the fan.
Longevity Problems
The VU5670 isn’t without its problems, and many customers have experienced one major issue with this fan; namely, it doesn’t last very long. Numerous customers have complained about the longevity of the VU5670 not lasting more than 3 years max, and some have even experienced a premature death before the 2-year mark. We get that nothing last forever, but c’mon!
Verdict
There really is a lot to love about the Rowenta VU5670. By moving roughly 2,500 cubic of air per minute, this stand fan can make even the muggiest summer evenings livable. And despite its humungous fan head and speed, the VU5670 is also one of the quietest fans we’ve ever had the grace to test. Now, even though this is a pretty magnificent stand fan to say the least, it’s not without its problems, the most prominent of which is its lifespan of roughly 3 years. However, with proper care and by using the timer function reasonably, we feel that you may be able to squeeze a few extra years out of the VU5670.
