That’s right: they have auto-recharge. As soon as they sense that their batteries are running low on power, they’ll head right to their charging dock to refuel. However, their navigation systems aren’t that straight-of-the-art so they may require a bit of time before finding their docks.

Assuming all goes as planned, these robots only need 120 minutes of charging before their batteries reach max capacity. Sadly, neither of these bots comes with an auto-resume function that allows the robot to pick up where it left off after charging, but that’s where Wi-Fi connectivity comes into play.

Smartphone and Voice Control

The 671 and 675 are designed to connect to your home’s Wi-Fi router in order to receive commands either through the downloadable smartphone app or Alexa/Assistant. If you’re not at home, you can send start, stop, and charge commands to these bots with a simple tap on your phone’s screen.

That way you’re always in the loop of what’s going on and have full-control over what you need the robot to do. If you’re in the room and can’t be darned to lean over and press buttons on the robots’ control panels, as long as you have Amazon Echo or Google Home installed, you can simply shout orders for your virtual assistants to relay to the Roombas.

Cleaning Range

Once again, we have another point where the 671 and 675 don’t differ at all. In terms of how much space the robots can clean per full charge, their technical cleaning range rating is 1,615 square feet.

This should cover an entire floor or apartment in a single charge, but it really depends on how many obstacles there are and how concentrated piles of dirt are on your floors.

Dirt Detect Technology

These robotic vacuum cleaners are constantly on the look-out for highly concentrated piles of dirt thanks to their patented Dirt Detect sensors. When their sensors pick up dirt concentrations in heavy foot-traffic areas of your home, they’ll make a point of spending a few extra minutes cleaning the spot before resuming its vacuuming cycle. This is definitely a nice touch especially considering these robots’ lack of added features.

Scheduled Cleaning

If you don’t want to spend time commanding your vacuum cleaner to get up and get to work regularly, all you have to do is set up a cleaning schedule via the smartphone app.

You can program up to seven different cleaning schedules for an entire week and never have to worry about whether your floors will be spotless by the time you get back from work. Using the iRobot HOME App, you can monitor their progress to ensure they’re busy when you are.

Low Profile

One of the major annoyances of owning a robot is their being too tall to fit beneath low-hanging furniture. This is a problem that the 600 series does not have to deal with. The 671 and 675 measure in at only 3.58 inches in height, allowing them to travel unobstructed beneath most couches, side tables, and bed frames.

Manual Control

No robotic vacuum cleaner is perfect, and these guys may get caught in an obstacle (dirty clothes, furniture, etc.) every once in a while. If you’re not at home, this can be an issue – unless, of course, the robot can be manually controlled via a smartphone app.

If you have the 671, you’re in luck; this baby can be guided manually through your smartphone. The controls are a little awkward and take some time getting used to.

The same can’t be said for the Roomba 675. This robot relies solely on its own navigations system to travel across the wilderness known as your home. The good news is that it doesn’t get stuck very frequently.

Conclusion
Is manually controlling the robot an important feature? Absolutely not, but it’s definitely a nice novelty feature that you may find joy out of using at least once. After a while, it does lose its appeal, but you may need it every so often when it gets stuck.

Roomba 671 vs. 675 – Which to Get?

After looking at these two robots, it’s pretty safe to conclude that you’re not getting a ton of difference when choosing one over the other. The only significant disparity between the Roomba 671 and 675 is the 671’s manual controllability which, if you look at the overall picture, doesn’t really mean a lot.

The great thing is that if you’re on a tight budget and are looking for an entry-level robotic vacuum cleaner, both of these badboys are exactly what you need.
