Robotic vacuum cleaners have become increasingly more popular nowadays, but even so, there are still quite a few people who are hesitant to use them. We assure you that certain robots, like the Roborock S4, for instance, are no cause for worry. In fact, some have gone as far as saying that the S4 can replace traditional uprights and stick vacuums. How, you ask? It’s awesome navigation and practically whisper-quiet operation – that’s how! Continue scrolling to find out more about the Roborock S4.
In a nutshell, the Roborock S4 robot vacuum is a revolutionary and brilliant device that can manage your carpets’ loose debris and pet pollen, removing them from your home altogether. With the robot’s incredible suction power as well as a battery-life, you get a perfect bundle in regards to keeping your home clean.
Accurate Navigation System
The Roborock S4 is a flawless navigator. Its high-precision laser navigation system spins around the top of the unit at a rate of 300 RPM, repeatedly capturing images and creating a real-time digital layout of your floors. It also records the locations of various obstacles (stairs, cliffs, furniture, etc.) to program the most efficient cleaning path in each room.
The sensors use a series of lasers, so navigating in the dark is not an issue for the S4. Compared to most, the S4 is engineered to navigate through complicated floorplans thanks to its drivetrain that makes it almost impossible to trap.
Heavy-Duty Li-Po 5,200-mAh Li-Po Battery
Another impressive feature of the Roborock S4 is its super-beefy Li-Po battery. It carries a 5,200-mAh charge, which supplies over 150 minutes of continuous cleaning between charges. Each charge gives the robot the ability to clean a wide 2,691-square-foot area (on Balanced mode) for maximum cleanup.
Best of all, its auto-charge feature calls the robot back to the charging dock when either its battery is out of power, or it has completed its cleaning cycle. An auto-resume feature sends the robot back out into the wilderness of your home’s floors after charging is completed. No longer will you have to manually command the robot to get back to work!
Intense 2,000-Pa Suction
The S4 has four different cleaning modes – Quiet, Balanced, Turbo, and MAX. Each cleaning mode deliveries a different amount of suction pressure, ranging from 1,200 to 2,000-Pa, that drains the battery at different rates. On MAX mode, the S4 produces an astounding 2,000-Pa of suction pressure to remove embedded dusty particles in low- and medium-pile carpeting. But Turbo mode is where the part is at; its high-power suction combined with power-efficiency works extremely well at picking up even the thinnest of pet hair in carpet fibers.
Adjustable Brushroll Height for All-Surface Cleaning
What makes the Roborock S4 a great vacuum cleaner is its functionality on all floor types, from hardwood to carpets. This is possible thanks to the floating main brushroll, which adjusts the height of the roll based on whatever surface the robot is currently treading on. The brushroll gently “hugs” the surface of your floors to prevent the bristles from marring tiles and laminate.
Ideal Robotic Vacuum for Pet Owners
But that’s not all we have to say about the main brushroll. The brush is designed to be combat tangling, allowing the S4 to run smoother for longer and without a reduction in suction pressure. The brush is easily detached, and the S4 has a self-cleaning tool that makes removing dust, hair, and other floor debris from the brush a breeze.
Super-Quiet Vacuuming
As we mentioned earlier, the S4 has four different cleaning modes where each mode drains the Li-Po battery at different rates. Each cleaning mode also produces different noise levels. From Quiet to MAX, the S4 generates a constant drone at 50 and 65 decibels.
Granted, these aren’t whisper-quiet noise levels we’re talking about, but by robotic vacuum cleaner standards, this is as quiet as it can get. On Quiet mode, the gently 50-db buzz isn’t going to jolt a snoozing baby or pet out of sleep.
Full-Control via Voice Commands and MI Home App
But perhaps the most impressive quality of the Roborock S4 is its practically hands-free simplicity. Setting up the S4 requires no button-pushing at all. After it has been connected to your home’s Wi-Fi network, it can receive voice commands directly through Alexa and Assistant.
If you’re not at home, everything can be controlled via the MI Home App – from selective room cleaning to programming cleaning schedules to setting up no-go zones. You cannot define a no-go zone in the location of the charging dock for obvious reasons.

No Mopping Function AT ALL
There is one huge flaw with the Roborock S4 that future customers should be aware of – the missing mopping function. Normally, we wouldn’t point this out, but certain online shops are trying to market this robot for something it’s not. There is no wet-wipe module or water tank built into this robot, so if you’re looking for a vacuum-mop combo bot, you need to look elsewhere.
