In this review, we’re taking a look at the Roborock E4 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner. This super-affordable robot offers a ton of suction power while also housing a sizable dust cup for fewer interruptions between vacuuming sessions. Let’s see what else this awesome little robot has in store for us.

Intense 2,000-Pa Suction
Let’s take a moment to acknowledge just how powerful the E4 truly is. On its maximum power mode, the E4 can deliver up to 2,000 Pa of suction power which makes this robot capable of picking up and removing hair and dust from medium-pile carpeting in one or two passes. For a budget-friendly robot, we were impressed by how powerful the E4 is and how reliable it is at picking up surface debris.

Easier Brush Maintenance
If you’ve owned a robotic vacuum cleaner before, you may have become frustrated by a clogged suction inlet. With the E4, this problem no longer exists! If the brushes are fully detachable remove human and pet hair with a quick swipe for easier maintenance.
640-mL Dust Cup
The E4 comes with the largest dust cup available in the Roborock line. It can store up to 640 mL of dirt at any given time and is extremely easy to detach to remove the contents. The large dust cup means fewer interruptions and fewer hands-on maintenance.
Dual Gyroscope + OpticEye Navigation
The way the E4 moves around is by using a series of sensors to detect its surroundings. This gives the E4 a good idea of the floor’s layout and where obstructions and obstacles lay. However, it cannot save digital maps so it’ll need to repeat this process every time it begins its cycle.
Moves Quicker, Cleans More
According to the manufacturer’s reports, the E4 can move up to 10% quicker than certain older models which allows it to clean a wider surface area while using the same amount of battery life. The quicker-paced E4 can cover up to 2,152 square feet per charge before needing to recharge.

Massive 5,200-mAh Battery
Speaking of the battery, the E4 is equipped with an impressive 5,200-mAh battery that lasts up to 180 minutes per charge. When the battery reaches 20% or less, it’ll immediately dive into its charging dock to refuel. After being topped off, the E4 will pick up exactly where it left off without further commands. The maximum cleaning time per charge depends on which mode is active and for how long.
Smart Controls with the Mi Home App and Alexa
Using the E4 is as simple as any intelligent robotic vacuum cleaner. This unit is compatible with the Mi Home App which shows users how long the robot has been working, how much longer it has to clean, the remaining battery life, and access to a programmable scheduler. Additionally, you can ask Alexa to relay your commands to the E4 if you don’t feel like whipping your smartphone out.
Washable HEPA Filter
The E4 comes with a super-fine HEPA filter that traps more than 99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The filter is washable so you won’t need to purchase replacements as frequently as you would in other competing robots. The Mi Home App will alert you when it’s time to give the filter a quick wash, rinse, and dry.

No-Go Zones Not Supported
The E4’s sensors are unable to store a digital layout of your home’s floors, and thus, users cannot define no-go zones for specific rooms or areas. Also, virtual boundaries and strips do not work with the E4. The only way you can prevent it from entering a room is by closing the door. A minor inconvenience but completely understandable by its cheaper-than-expected price tag.
Optional Mopping Module
To make your E4 even more useful than it already is, you have the option of picking up a mopping module that replaces the robot’s dust bin. With a bit of water, the robot will run across your floors using a slightly moistened microfiber pad to remove any lingering dust particles the vacuum may have missed.
The water output rate is customizable in the Mi Home App.
Simultaneous vacuuming and mopping are not supported, and you cannot establish no-mop zones either. Prepare to get your carpets slightly moistened.

Verdict: Should I Get the Roborock E4?
For an affordable robotic vacuum cleaner, we’re extremely happy to report that the Roborock E4 is missing very few features you would find in high-end models. The only thing that slightly disappoints us is the lack of customizable no-go zones, but other than that, the Roborock E4 is the steal of a lifetime! You can make life a lot easier by getting the optional mopping module with your purchase.

For the record, one of the reviews biggest criticisms (otherwise glowing) of the E4 is that it is supposedly not compatible with the magnetic barrier strips… According to Roborock, the E4 is *absolutely* compatible with their magnetic barrier strips.
