Review of the Miele Compact C1 Pure Suction Canister Vacuum

If you’re tired of pushing around bulky uprights and don’t have enough trust in robotic vacuum cleaners to do the job for you, then the best option for you would be to get a canister vacuum.

And when it comes to canisters, there’s one brand that most people perceive to be the best of the best: Miele.

We’ve looked at several Miele models in the past, and this time we’re going to see what all the hubbub is about by reviewing the Compact C1 Pure Suction Canister Vacuum.

It’s one of Miele’s more affordable options, but its friendlier price tag doesn’t diminish the quality of its performance. Let’s see what the Miele Compact C1 has in store for us.

Magnificent Cleaning Performance

The overall experience of using the Compact C1 is truly unique in the sense that it does everything perfectly. A single sweep of the Combination Floorhead or Pure-Suction Parquet Floorhead will remove dislodge and extract the tiniest of dust specks to the largest of cereal bits every time.

We can thank the engineers for the 1200W Vortex Motor installed in this compact behemoth.

The Combination Floorhead has rubberized wheels and a metal plate that makes it glide effortlessly across low-pile carpeting and bare floors. The Pure-Suction Parquet Floorhead, as its name suggest, uses pure airflow to extract dirt from in between floorboards and in tile grout.

But what’s truly amazing is that the C1 Compact, despite neither of these floorheads having a brush roll, works exceptionally well on high-pile carpeting.

So even though this unit is marketed as a bare floor and low-pile carpet vacuum cleaner, those will shaggy rugs will enjoy the magnificence of the Compact C1’s high-pressure cleaning.

Suction Control with 6 Cleaning Modes

What makes the Compact C1 so highly versatile is the six different cleaning modes. A turn of the dial will crank up or down how much airflow passes through the floorhead and suction hose, allowing you to clean all sorts of above-ground objects and surfaces without causing damage.

Whether you’re clearing cobwebs from ceilings or discarding dirt from drapes, one of Compact C1’s cleaning modes will do the trick.

This may seem a bit nitpicky, but without reading the included paperwork, users may be left in the dark regarding what the images around the suction control dial mean. The min and max text, however, should give you an inkling of how much power to expect.

29-1/2-foot Cleaning Radius

One thing that makes Miele canister vacuums so adored by customers is near-unrestricted movement. The combined lengths of the power cord, suction hose, and wands add up to a radius of 29-1/2 feet from any outlet.

This much movement area will reduce the frequency of needing to switch between outlets, allowing you to clean more without leaning over.

While we’re talking about back-saving features, we might as well mention that the oversized On/Off and automatic cord rewind buttons can be operated by a quick tap of your foot.

3 Cleaning Tools and VarioClip

The only way a canister vacuum cleaner can clean is by attaching one of its cleaning tools to the end of the suction hose. As we mentioned in an earlier section, the Compact C1 comes with a Combination Floorhead and a Pure-Suction Parquet Floorhead, but you also get a three-piece set of attachments (crevice tool, upholstery tool, and dusting brush).

All three of these tools sit on the VarioClip that clings onto the suction wand for quick access and easy swapping.

3.5-liter Filter Bag

Despite being a leader in the canister vacuum game, many of Miele’s products, the Compact C1 included, can’t get past the idea of switching to bagless systems. All suctioned dirt and debris are collected inside of 3.5-liter bag lines with Miele’s AirClean Filter.

Admittedly, the filter works excellently at keeping dirt away from the motor and shooting out of the exhaust, and it does carry multiple sessions’ worth of floor pollutants, but over time, the accumulated cost of purchasing replacement filter bags will outweigh any savings you hoped to gain from this budget-friendly canister vac. But if you can get past that, then there’s absolutely nothing else at fault with this bagged system.

Verdict: Should I Get the Miele Compact C1 Pure Suction Canister Vacuum?

There’s no doubt about it—the Compact C1 is a super-powerful canister vac that’s designed to tackle more than just the average dust pile. With six different cleaning modes and a 3-piece set of cleaning tools, the term “versatile” doesn’t do the Miele Compact C1 justice.

What this canister vacuum can guarantee is amazing cleaning performance on all floor types with the same mobility as a corded handheld vac.
