The small profile the LEVOIT Vista 200 Air Purifier paired with its amazing filtration system, makes it the perfect solution for bedrooms. It’s not the most technologically advanced air purifier out there, but it is a reliable unit that does an excellent job at moving and filtering the air in small rooms.
With a 7.9-inch diameter base and 12.9-inch cylindrical body, the Vista 200 is perfect for any desk or table. This is a small air purifier that’s perfect for taking with you from room to room. The Vista 200 is the ideal-sized air purifier to have in college dorms, bedrooms, and small home offices.
Of course, a compact air purifier like the Vista 200 will not have a large enough motor to filter the air of kitchens and living rooms. This unit’s coverage capacity is limited to only 161 square feet, but customers have found that it even works effectively in large 170-square-foot rooms. Just don’t rely on the Vista 200 to filter the air in garages or woodshops.
One of the greatest benefits that the Vista 200 offers is its 360° intake design, which suctions and filters air from every direction. Most air purifiers are required to face a specific direction to maximize its airflow intake, but the Vista 200’s cylindrical and surround-fan design make it ideal for placing in any part of a room.
3-Stage Filtration with a True HEPA Filter (99.97% Effectiveness)
Despite its small housing, the Vista 200 is packing some pretty serious power. Its brushless motor delivers an airflow rating of 50 CFM, which then pushes air through three different filters. The first line of defense is a nylon pre-filter that traps large particles. The second stage is a True HEPA Filter with an effectiveness of 99.97% at trapping microscopic particles like dust mites, pet dander, stray fur, pollen, and anything else as larger than 0.3 microns. The final filter is an Activated Carbon Filter eliminates cooking smells, chemical odors, and VOCs.
3 Fan Speeds and Sleep Mode
The Vista 200’s motor offers three different fan speeds. Users have the freedom to choose between three fan speeds to efficiently clean the air in their room. Starting from the lowest speed, the Vista will only produce between 26 and 52 decibels of noise. It also has a sleep feature which further drops the fan’s speed and noise production while also dimming its lights for undisturbed sleep.
Remember that the compact Vista 200 is not the most advanced air purifier out there, so its added features are pretty basic. It doesn’t have a smart sensor, but it does come with a timer function that lets you set up how long the appliance will run. The timer can be set to 2, 4, or 8 hours, after which it will automatically shut off.
Filter Replacement Indicator
The second additional feature in the Levoit Vista 200 is a filter replacement indicator. After giving it a few tests, we found that it’s not as accurate as we had hoped. Even though the lifespan of the filters depends on how frequently you use the air purifier, they have a maximum life expectancy of up to 7 months.
LEVOIT Vista 200 vs. LEVOIT LV-H133
After reading our review of the Vista 200, you should have a good idea of what it can and cannot do. In a nutshell, it’s a pretty neat compact air purifier whose usefulness is limited by its tiny housing and tinier internal components. Now let’s see how well it compares against other popular air purifiers, starting with its cousin, the LEVOIT LV-H133.
Other than their similar cylindrical design and 3-stage filtration system, the Vista 200 and LV-H133 are worlds apart. First of all, the LV-H133 is not a desktop air purifier as it stands 26 inches tall on a 16-inch diameter base. Being almost twice the size of the Vista 200, you can expect at least twice as much cleaning power from the LV-H133. It exceeds expectations by being rated to filter rooms as large as 538 square feet.
This floor air purifier also has more cleaning modes than the Vista 200. Other than cycling through the three available fan speeds (low, medium, and high), customers can set the LV-H133 on auto-mode to let its built-in sensors decide how to clear the air most efficiently. With an auto-mode feature, this air purifier takes a lot of the guesswork out of how long to keep it running.
The LV-H133 also has an upgraded timer that lets users select how long the air purifier should run. Instead of three preset timer options, you can choose anywhere between 1 and 12 hours of constant purifying power before it automatically turns off.
LEVOIT Vista 200 vs. Germ Guardian AC5250PT
Next, we’re going to see how the Vista 200 fares against the likes of the Germ Guardian AC5250PT. This is a more appropriate comparison since they’re both within the same 150-200-square-foot coverage capacity range for small- to medium-sized rooms.
To be more specific, the AC5250PT can effectively and efficiently move and filter the air in rooms of up to 180 square feet. In the grander scheme of things, a 19-square-foot disparity is hardly anything at so, so the LEVOIT could easily replace the Germ Guardian and vice versa.
The AC5250PT is built more like a tower than a stubby cylinder like the LEVOIT. It measures in at 28 inches tall and sits atop an oval-shaped, 16-inch diameter base. This air purifier is more appropriately placed on the ground rather than on a desk or table since wobbling is a natural risk of the design.
This air purifier also uses a 3-stage filtration system that includes a True HEPA Filter (99.97% effectiveness and so on). The differences between the two are that the first stage is a Carbon Activated Pre-Filter that traps larger particles and odor molecules, and the final stage is an optional beam of UV-C light that destroys viruses and bacteria at their cores. This produces ozone – a lung irritant – but only in insignificant quantities of less than 2 parts per billion.
The Germ Guardian AC5250PT comes with a built-in timer that can be set up to 8 hours. It’s not the most flexible timer, but it’s a heck of a lot better than the 3-option timer in the LEVOIT VISTA. This will come in handy if you’d like to turn the UV-C beam on before you head out to work.
LEVOIT Vista 200 vs. Winix 5300-2
If we’re completely honest, comparing the Vista 200 to the Winix 5500-2 is like comparing a Mini Cooper to a tank. They’re both polar opposites of each other in terms of how much can filter.
But there is one very significant similarity between the LEVOIT and Winix. Take, for instance, the use of a True HEPA Filter that’s the second line of defense right after their respective pre-filters. If you suffer from seasonal, dust, or pet allergies, then both of these air purifiers will help clear the air and make the indoors livable again.
The third stage in the 5500-2’s 3-stage filtration system is PlasmaWave technology – an ionizer that eradicates bacteria forever by deconstruction their DNA build. Best of all, according to Winix, the ionizing feature does not produce harmful ozone. We’d still recommend only turning this on when you’re not at home, and shutting it off via the smartphone app hours before you get home.
In every other regard, the LEVOIT and Winix share nothing in common. The Winix is designed to handle large 360-square-foot rooms like kitchens, garages, and home offices, whereas the LEVOIT works best in a bedroom.
Except for the built-in timer with three presets, the Vista 200 is missing all of the smart features that make an air purifier a convenient appliance. The Winix, on the other hand, is packing smart air-quality sensors with auto-mode and Wi-Fi compatibility for remote access via the WINIX SMART app.
The most important thing to know about the Winix is that it’s built for large spaces. If you only need to purify the air in your bedroom, then the 5500-2 is complete and utter overkill.
