The Eureka NEC180 is one of the more amazing stick vacuums we have ever seen. Its lightweight build and powerful suction aren’t its only shining features – with a longer-lasting battery than most of its competitors, you can get more done per charge with less time waiting around the charging dock. Look at my full review of the NEC180 and see whether your floors would benefit from having your very own.
Multi-Surface Vacuum Head
You wouldn’t be wrong in thinking that most stick vacuum cleaners are made for bare floors and soft-fiber upholstery, but the NEC180 is vastly different from most. The extraordinary vacuum head coupled with the beefy motor allows you to clean bare floors, low-pile carpets, auto interiors, and any above-ground surface you can imagine.
9-1/2-inch Cleaning Path
To make vacuum cleaning easier and quicker, the NEC180’s vacuum head is 9-1/2 inches wide, giving the tool the ability to clear a wide path in a single pass. Ultimately, it means you’ll spend less time cleaning and more time doing what you love (dirtying your floors).
Granted, this isn’t the broadest vacuum head available, but it doesn’t inhibit movement around furniture as 10- or 11-inch vacuum heads tend to do.
3.2-pound Build
Spot-cleaning high-up spaces are possible thanks to the super-lightweight design. The NEC180 on an empty dustbin weighs just 3.2 pounds, so lifting the unit to vacuum drapes, get between car seat cushions, and clean bookshelves won’t wear your arm and shoulder muscles out.

Convertible with 2 Cleaning Tools
If you’d like, you can convert the stick NEC180 into a handheld unit simply by removing the shaft. All that’s left to do is choose which cleaning tool – either the crevice tool or the versatile 2-in-1 dusting brush – to attach.
MAX and Standard Cleaning Modes
The NEC180 has two cleaning modes – MAX and Standard – that you can choose between when cleaning certain floor types. For carpets and upholstery, switch to MAX mode to dislodge and suction up every piece of embedded debris and fallen pet fur.
Standard cleaning mode is ideal for bare floors that don’t require powerful suction to clean.
Cyclonic Filtration System
Cyclonic filtration separates small debris from coarser ones, preventing the filter from becoming clogged and reducing suction power. Additionally, the separator makes cleanup a breeze.

All of the finer particles settle at the bottom of the dustbin and will fall out with a few good whacks. As for the larger pieces, they’ll drop out of the separator.
40-minute Runtime per Charge
One of the features of the NEC180 is its heavy-duty battery. On a full charge, you can expect up to 40 minutes of continuous cleaning on Standard Cleaning mode, allowing you to clean most, if not all, of a room or carpet.
Charging this unit is done by placing it on a wall-mounted charging dock and requires roughly six hours to reach maximum capacity. Sure, the runtime-to-charging-time ratio is horrible, but that’s just the nature of stick vacs.
Easy Maneuverability
Like most stick vacs, the NEC180 is easy to navigate on floors and vertical surfaces, but the magic behind this stick vac’s maneuverability is its swivel neck.

Not only does it allow you to clean corners and move effortlessly between furniture legs, but the neck also allows you to bring the handle down to the floor without lifting the vacuum head. Say goodbye to dust bunnies lurking beneath couches and bed frames!
Resting Notch
The NEC180, like most stick vacuum cleaners, cannot stand on its own. You’d most likely have to mount it onto the charging dock to get some rest while cleaning. The NEC180, however, has a groove that allows it to lean on vertical surfaces without the vacuum head rolling forward.
LED Headlights
If there were one thing I would change, it’s the LEDs. Sure, they work well at illuminating dark spaces, but they’re not bright enough to shine on hidden dust piles on carpets and bare floors.

It is by no means a deal-breaker, but if you have trouble finding where all the dust bunnies are on your carpets, you’ll need a brighter light than what the NEC180 is packing.
Verdict
Overall, the Eureka NEC180 is an excellent stick vacuum cleaner that does its job flawlessly. The thing that attracts most users is its convertibility – switching from stick mode to handheld unit mode – to simply spot-cleaning tasks on almost any surface you could think of.
The swivel neck allows you to push the handle to the floor without lifting the vacuum head so you don’t need to move furniture around before vacuuming.

I purchased this model in Dec. 2021. I like it but my brushroll works intermittently. It goes in and out while I’m vacuuming. It doesn’t matter if I’m doing my bare floors or my carpet. It’s annoying and I’m very disappointed in it.
