Robot vacuums are becoming more and more smart, functional and as a result, inevitable. More and more homes are switching from traditional vacuum cleaners to these amazing vacuums that do all the work unsupervised.
Roombas are by far the most popular robot vacuums in the market today. They are well-known by consumers, and they generally tend to perform well across the board. However, they are also very expensive with some of the high-end models costing more than $1,000.
The million dollar question is, do you have to fork out large amounts of money to get a modern functional, and feature-filled robot vacuum?
To answer this question, let’s take a look at the Eufy Robovac 15C. This is one robot vacuum that has amazed buyers with its amazing features and reasonable price tag. In fact, it comes with some features that you would get from high-end Roombas with a price tag that’s two or three times more than the price of this Robot vacuum.
Let’s jump in.
Design
Generally speaking, Roombas have been designed to look good. They come with a round and elegant design that you would not mind seeing around your home. They are also not too aggressive to scare your pets.
The RoboVac 15C seems to have accomplished exactly that with its sleek round design that is simple enough to look good in your home without being too aggressive to scare your pets. That’s not all. Despite the fact that this vacuum lies squarely in the mid-budget range, it comes with an elegant glass finish that is both functional and good looking.
This glass finish gives the robot a premium finish that will look elegant while ensuring that the vacuum doesn’t get scratches as it moves around in your home. This means that even after years of use, this vacuum will still look as elegant and stylish as it looked when new.
Another unique and impressive element of this robot’s design is how slim it is. At only 2.85 inches tall, there are very few places it can’t reach. It will easily go under furniture and most tight spots in your home. In fact, it will go to places where most Roombas can only dream of reaching.
Cleaning
A robot vacuum cleaner’s main job is to clean your floors. No matter how good looking it is, if it does not do a good cleaning job, it is useless. The cleaning performance of a robot vacuum is determined by two things: the suction and the brushes.
Most Roombas usually come with one spinning edge brush and rubber brushes underneath. The Robovac 15C comes with two spinning edge brushes and a bristle brush underneath. Two spinning edge brushes mean that the robot is able to clean messes on hard floors faster because it will clear a larger area than the Roomba with only one.
Rubber brushes are easy to clean, and they will not get tangled with pet hair and fibers from carpets as fast as bristle brushes.
The other element of a good cleaning job is the suction, and the RoboVac 15C does not disappoint with 1300Pa of suction. This is complemented by BoostIQ, a feature that increases the suction when the vacuum reaches areas on your floor that need a more thorough cleaning. This feature is only available on high-end Roombas so the Eufy will give you better value for money in this regard.
Battery Life
If you have a large house, battery life is an important consideration because it will determine how much cleaning the robot will be able to do before you need to recharge. For the Eufy RoboVac 15C, you will get up to 100 minutes of runtime before the battery needs recharging.
This time is sufficient for most homes, and if you have many rooms, you can close doors and let the robot clean room by room if the time is not enough for cleaning the entire house. When the battery runs low, this robot will find its way to the charging dock and recharge, but if it had not finished cleaning, it will not resume where it had stopped. Some high-end Roombas have the Recharge and Resume feature that enables them to resume cleaning after going back to the charging dock for a charge.
If you have a very large home with very large rooms, then the RoboVac 15C from Eufy may not be your best option. A Roomba with the Recharge and Resume feature may be more convenient for you.
How Smart is It?
We are all about smart devices so this article will not be complete before we look at how smart the RoboVac 15C is in comparison with the Roombas.
First, let’s look at how the vacuum moves around your home. Depending on the cleaning mode you choose, the vacuum will either move in a spiral fashion to clean a specific spot, along the edges of the room or randomly throughout the entire house. It also has sensors that keep it from falling off the stairs and a bumper that tells it when it hits an obstacle. It also has no problem finding its way back to the charging dock.
This model does not come with boundary strips or the virtual walls that come with some Roombas, so if you need to restrict the robot’s movements, you might need to use physical methods like closing doors to rooms that don’t need cleaning.
Next, let’s take a look at the control options. In addition to the single button on the vacuum, the RoboVac 15C comes with a remote control that you can use to get extra functionality like choosing modes and docking. If you need more options, you can use the smartphone app that allows you to set cleaning schedules, find the robot if it’s lost in your house, get status notifications and many other tasks.
Even better, you can buy the robot vacuum together with an Amazon Alexa device to give voice commands from the comfort of your seat.

Conclusion
The Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 15C may not be a Roomba, but it will give most Roombas a run for their money. It comes packed with features that a good number of Roombas in its class can only dream of having. In fact, unless you have very large rooms or boundary strips are very important to you, this robot vacuum will perform just like any Roomba would with the benefit of being super slim. This means that it will be able to reach areas of your home that Roombas can’t.
