If you have Black+Decker tools that make a mess in your garage workshop, then it only makes sense to have a B+D handheld vacuum cleaner to eliminate the mess. Their Dustbuster (CHV1410L) Handheld Vacuum is truly in a league of its own – long runtimes, a rotatable nozzle, flawless filtration, and maximum suction power isn’t even half of the story. Let’s go over the points that make the Dustbuster an excellent handheld unit to have.

15.2-airwatt Suction
First of all, suction power. With a maximum airflow rating of 15.2 airwatts, you can reasonably expect the Dustbuster to bust dust in a quick and effective manner. This device works exceptionally well at picking up piles of dust and even pet litter and food.
However, it’s not exactly made to remove pet hair seeing as how it’s lacking a motorized brushroll.
Washable 20-ounce Dust Cup
The Dustbuster comes with a large 20-ounce dust cup that should have some spare room after the battery runs out. The dust cup is easy to empty out (detach the nozzle) and wash (remove the cup from the unit’s base). Just make sure the cup is fully dried before reattaching and turning on.
Two-Stage Cyclonic Filtration
The two-stage cyclonic filtration starts with a plastic mesh filter that prevents larger dust particles and debris from making its way into the next stage, namely the finer inner cloth.

This system is supported by cyclonic filtration that keeps all collected debris in the cup so it never seeps out through any openings or out of the exhaust.
Built-In Crevice and Brush Tool
Now, onto the tools. You’ll notice that Dustbuster doesn’t have any detachable tools inside of the box. That’s intentional since the crevice and brush tools are built into the nozzle.
To “swap” between the two tools, all you need to do is flip the brush up and onto the end of the crevice tool. This design eliminates the risk of misplacing the cleaning attachments when stored.
Rotating Nozzle
The rotating nozzle of the Dustbuster means you no longer need to twist and turn your arm and shoulder to poke the crevice or brush tools into cramped spaces.
The nozzle isn’t that long so you may need to move furniture around to get it into tight spots.
Ideal for Carpet Corners and Upholstery
Without a motorized brush, the Dustbuster is best-suited for low-pile carpeting and upholstery, but it can also be used to spot-clean bare floors on occasion.
This tool is mainly used after giving your floors a thorough cleaning with an upright/canister since it’ll fit into nooks and crannies that standard vacuum heads won’t.
The mighty suction power of the Dustbuster makes it a great option for cleaning smooth-surface tables and upholstery thanks to its compact, lightweight build.
30-minute Charge
Now let’s talk about the battery. Without a power cord, the Dustbuster draws power from 16V battery that’s fitted inside of the tool’s casing. Each full-charge can deliver up to 30 minutes of cleaning which is a bit longer than the standard runtime of most handheld models.

From 0 to 100%, it’ll require roughly 4 hours of sitting on the charger base.
Please note that B+D has acknowledged that defective chargers have made their way past quality control. Let them know if this is the case with your charging base as soon as you’ve received the Dustbuster.
Non-Replaceable Battery
Because the battery is fitted into the machine, it can’t be removed and swapped out for a fresh pack. Thankfully, the battery pack is built to hold a 30-minute charge for up to 18 months, but after this period, its runtime will decline significantly.
But if you treat the Dustbuster right (e.g. don’t overcharge the battery and keep the device out of harm’s way), you may be able to extend the lifespan of the battery beyond the warranty (based on customer reports).
Backed by a 2-Year Warranty
Handheld vacuum cleaners are notorious for falling apart after the first couple of months after purchase, so I’m glad to report that the Dustbuster is protected by a comprehensive warranty of up to two years.
If any of the components (other than the non-replaceable battery) should fail within this grace period, the kind customer reps at B+D will help resolve any issues you have.

Verdict
Out of all of the Black+Decker handheld vacuum cleaners available, the cordless DustBuster CHV1410L is by far the best model. It’s not just about ultimate suction power, enhanced cleaning performance, and excellent runtimes either; the convenience that the flip-up nozzles and large dust cup offer is too good to pass up.
