Powered Mop

The first thing we need to talk about is that the Spinwave is an electric mop. The benefit of an electric mop over traditional mops is how hard you need to push down to remove sticky, caked-on stains. With the Spinwave, you don’t need to do anything at all! Let the spinning mop pads do the heavy lifting (so to speak) while you gently glide the 11-pound mop forward and backward.

Swivel Steering

To make things easier on the user, Bissell implemented a swivel steering neck that makes cleaning below and between furniture an effortless task. However, the handle does not lean forward or backward so you’ll have to attack at multiple angles to touch every square inch of floor underneath furniture.

The lightest touch turns and directs the mop head to exactly where you need it.

28-ounce Tank Capacity

The Spinwave comes with a large 28-ounce clean-water tank. This is also where you mix your detergent of choice, but Bissell will throw in two trial-size bottles of Multi-Surface Formula to try out. With 28-ounces of floor cleaning solution, you’ll be able to clean wide surface area and even multiple rooms on a single tank. The tank detaches from the main body for easy refills and solution mixing.

On-Demand Spray

On the handle is a trigger which, when engaged, dispenses small quantities of the cleaning solution. Each pull of the trigger sends a wide fan of cleaning solution in front of the mop head to make stubborn stains easy to remove without going overboard on soap. However, some customers talked about needing to push the handle slightly forward or backward to get the pump mechanism working correctly.

Noiseless Work

Here’s something that nobody can disagree on. The Spinwave is nearly whisper-quiet! This one-speed electric mop generates a hardly audible buzzing sound while the pads are spinning and working. Sleeping children and pets will not be pulled out of their slumber while the Spinwave does its thing.

Two Pads: Soft and Scrubby

The Spinwave comes with two soft pads and two scrubby pads for cleaning all sorts of surfaces and stains. The soft pads are made for everyday mopping and dirt removal, whereas the scrubby pads with their denser fibers “dig” deep and remove sticky spills in a couple of spins. These washable pads need to be cleaned after each use to remove sand and grit from their tiny fibers.

22-foot Power Cord

Connected to the Spinwave is a long 22-foot power cord that provides a wide are of free movement from every wall outlet. This means fewer interruptions in the middle of mopping while also touching more of your floor’s surface area.

On the back of the unit are handy hooks where the cord wraps around for quick and easy storage. When you need to use the Spinwave, spin the upper hook downward to instantly unwrap the cord.

Overall Cleaning Performance

The speed of the pads isn’t particularly fast so it may take a couple of seconds to remove certain stains. This isn’t a problem since, as a powered unit, it’s already doing most of the work for you. However, streaking can be a major problem when pulling the mop head away.

If this happens, either you’re not using enough cleaning solution or you’re moving the mop head around too quickly.

Furthermore, the pads four pads that come with the Spinwave aren’t as absorbent as we hoped. Ultimately, what happens is they can become waterlogged and end up pushing stains away rather than removing them permanently. You’ll have to wring the pads every now and then to prepare them for further cleaning.
