Bissell has been one of the front runners in the carpet-cleaning game, and if you’ve seen their products, you wouldn’t question why. Today, we’d like to take a quick look at the CrossWave 2554A – a cordless wet-dry vacuum cleaner that’s designed to tackle all sorts of messes, including those that you pet leaves behind. Let’s jump right into the review.
You may find that you only have enough energy to either vacuum or mop but rarely ever both. Well, you can combine both tasks by using one tool – the 2554A.
This wet-dry vacuum cleaner does exactly what its name suggests; it vacuums carpets and sealed hard floors while using a cleaning solution to eliminate every trace of stubborn stains. Whatever dirty, hair, and other floor pollutants it picks up is sent straight to the dirty water tank.
Hard-Floor and Area Rug Modes
You’ll want to use the appropriate cleaning mode based on the surface you intend on cleaning. The buttons to switch between modes are conveniently located near the handle and require a simple press with your thumb.
Optional Solution Dispenser
To use solution for deep-cleaning rugs and bare floors, all you need to do is pull the trigger on the handle. This allows you to work with water for deep-cleaning and without water for standard vacuuming.
Tossing out the contents of the dirty water tank can be gross (or as gross as you allow your floors to be), but you won’t need to worry about manually removing large particles and strands of hair from clogging your sink.
The dirty water tank comes with a hair strainer the catches hair and other solid debris, making cleanup easier and less nauseating.
No Tying You Down
Best of all, the 2554A is a cordless wet-clean vac that draws power from a hefty 36V Li-Ion battery, meaning you’re free to travel the world with this wet-dry vac without worrying about where you need to plug it in.
You will need to charge this device regularly to ensure that it has enough cleaning power to perform whatever task you ask of it, but that’s hardly an issue…
30-minute Runtime per Charge
…considering you have half-an-hour of cleaning time per charge. This may not sound like much, but not many cordless wet-dry vacs offer this much runtime. When it runs out of power, it’ll take roughly four hours of charging to reach maximum capacity.
3-in-1 Charging Dock
The 2554A comes with a 3-in-1 charging dock that stores and charges the vacuum when not in use. best of all, the dock has a self-cleaning system that removes hair and debris from the soft brushroll while charging.
Obviously, there is no drying mechanism in the charging dock so you’ll need to remove and dry it after the running it through the self-cleaning cycle. The next time you need the 2554A, it’ll be fully charged and ready to roll without smearing stains of old. Note: the dirty water tank needs to be attached while self-cleaning.
Lightweight for Improved Maneuverability
Oftentimes, carpet cleaners or wet vacs are bulky, heavy, and difficult to move around. That is definitely not the case with the 2554A.
The dry-weight of this device is only 11-1/2 pounds, practically eliminating the burden of pushing, pulling, and navigating between and under furniture. It also has a swiveling neck for added convenience and better control.
Perfect Edge Cleaning
Edge cleaning typically isn’t an issue with wet-dry vacs, but the thinner bezels of the 2554A will make you wonder how you ever did it before.
The wide brushroll is hardly inhibited by the side bezels, allowing them to reach even closer to edges compared to previous CrossWave models.
No, the 2554A doesn’t connect to the internet. How weird would it be if it did? Instead, if you download their app on your smartphone, you can receive maintenance tips, cleaning tips, and support directly from a Bissell rep.
Wet and Dry Cleaning Performance
With the tool fully assembled, charged, and properly primed, the 2554A is a wonderful wet-dry vac. You’re free to use as much or as little cleaning solution as you wish, depending on how stubborn the floor stain is. However, it’s not a “deep-cleaning” machine since the soft brushroll won’t extract debris from long carpet fibers. Just something to keep in mind.
Overall, the convenience and ease-of-use of the 2554A from Bissell is out of this world. The fact that it’s a cordless tool is the cherry on a very stacked ice cream cake. You’ll find that the self-cleaning charging dock is a game-changer – it’ll eliminate the need to manually pull and/or snip pet hair from the soft brushroll, making your job a heck of a lot more enjoyable.
