Bissell is mainly known for its wide range of heavy-duty and portable carpet cleaners, but they’re also a prominent manufacturer of vacuum cleaners. Case in point: the 2746A stick vacuum is a favorite among those who need a lightweight vacuum cleaner for carpets and pet fur. Read the full review to see just how great of a stick vacuum the 2746A really is.
Three Cleaning Modes
Most stick vacuum cleaners come with one or two different cleaning modes, but the 2746A isn’t like most.
The three cleaning modes are Max Cleaning that delivers greater suction power for cleaning low- and medium-pile carpets, Everyday Cleaning which is the standard cleaning mode that balances power and runtime, and Quiet Cleaning that reduces suction power to extend battery life. Switching between the three modes can be done on the handle by sliding a button with your thumb up or down.
The innovative 3,200-RPM, tangle-free brushroll is the 2476A’s source of magic. Unlike other self-cleaning brush technologies, this one actually works – the soft blades basically grind long strands of hair into smaller, more manageable pieces that the vacuum head picks up effortlessly.
However, this system is far from perfect; what happens is that the chopped-up pieces fly around inside of the dustbin and get trapped beneath the rubber gasket. Pulling individual strands of hair out of there is nothing but time-consuming.
Smart Allergen Seal
In order to prevent tiny strands of hair and dust from shooting out of the dustbin and exhaust, the 2746A is equipped with a Smart Allergen Seal. This stops the fine metal filter mesh from becoming clogged and guarantees optimal suction power for longer.
Weighing in at only seven pounds, it’s pretty fair to say that the 2746A is a lightweight cordless stick vac. The lightweight design allows you to do overhead cleaning simply by lifting the vacuum head and running it across the surface of drapes, book shelves, and upholstery. Use any of the included cleaning attachments (more on this later) to make spot-cleaning above-ground surfaces easier.
The high-power digital motor is powered by a moderately sized 25V rechargeable battery that supplies anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes of continuous cleaning per charge.
How much cleaning you can do per charge depends on which cleaning mode you activate and how often you switch between them. The battery life is OK at best, but there’s definitely room for improvement in this department.
Included Cleaning Tools
Apart from the Motorized TurboBrush used for vacuuming floors, the 2746A also features an LED crevice tool, a pet dusting brush, and a flexible crevice tool. The best part is that this stick vacuum can convert into a handheld model for easier above-ground cleaning.
Simply detach the shaft and connect any of the specialized cleaning tools onto the end of the canister.
Most stick vacs come with LEDs so what’s the big deal with the 2746A’s? Basically, the bright LEDs offer a ton of visibility not only in the dark but also on dark surfaces.
Their bright beams allow you to see which parts of your floor haven’t and have been cleaned. Plus, you can vacuum in the dark which is always a plus.
Wall Mounted Charging Dock
Like most stick vacuum cleaners, the 2746A comes with a wall mounted charging dock that keeps the unit off the ground during storage.
What’s better is that the charging dock has built-in compartments where each of the cleaning tools can be stored. Not only do you save floorspace, but you also reduce the risk of losing individual cleaning tools after every use.
One of the biggest complaints that users have with most stick vacuums is removing various parts in order to open the dustbin latch.
This, thankfully, is not an issue with the 2746A. Instead, this model relies of CleanSide Technology that separates dirt from the tank, allowing you to pull the dustbin out and dump the contents in just a few simple motions. If you’re careful, you’ll have hardly any cleaning up to do after emptying the dustbin.
After taking a look at the Bissell 2746A ICONPet Pro Cordless Vacuum, there’s hardly anything to worry about. For those with pets, this stick vac makes quick and easy work out of picking up clumps of fallen fur off of carpets and above-ground surfaces.
The numerous cleaning tools simplify spot-cleaning on above-ground and even overhead surfaces. Switching from stick to handheld mode means you can clean all sorts of surfaces, even the inside of your car, in a jiffy. If you’re looking for a stick vac and don’t know which one to get, the Bissell 2746A is definitely worth considering.
